Why Do We Give?

We believe that the cheerful giving of tithes and offerings is a biblical principal found in both the old and the new testament. We also believe that you truly can’t outgive God. That’s why we ” give” offerings we don’t “take” offerings. God owes us nothing but still continues to freely give us everything. Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 9 that what we give isn’t a loss; rather, God multiplies our generosity for our good, the good of others, and the growth of His Kingdom. Our prayer is that our financial gifts are used by God and for God to draw others to Himself.

What’s the Difference Between a Tithe and an Offering?

In Scripture, a tithe literally means a tenth. In Genesis 14, Abram gave a tenth of his first fruits to God after a great victory—not to earn God’s blessing, but as a response to the blessing God had already given him. That example shapes how we believe tithing should be practiced today: giving 10% of the first fruits of our labor as an act of worship and gratitude.

An offering, however, is different. In Scripture, offerings are given prayerfully and cheerfully, as God leads each person. They are not given out of pressure or obligation, but from a willing and obedient heart.
Our prayer today is that God would capture our hearts, and awaken us to the truth that He loves us and deeply cares for us. Everything we have already belongs to Him. There is nothing we give that did not first come from His hand, and nothing we could offer that He does not already possess in abundance.

All glory belongs to the Giver of all.
