Why Do We Give?

We believe that the cheerful giving of tithes and offerings is a biblical principal found in both the old and the new testament. We also believe that you truly can’t outgive God. That’s why we ” give” offerings we don’t “take” offerings. God owes us nothing but still continues to freely give us everything. Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 9 that what we give isn’t a loss; rather, God multiplies our generosity for our good, the good of others, and the growth of His Kingdom. Our prayer is that our financial gifts are used by God and for God to draw others to Himself.

What’s the Difference Between a Tithe and an Offering?

In scripture a tithe literally translates to a “tenth”. In Genesis 14 Abram gave a tenth of his first fruits to God after his victory, not to invoke God’s blessings but in response to God’s blessings. That is how we believe we should give our tithes, 10% of the first fruits of our labor. An offering in scripture is something to be given prayerfully and cheerfully as we are called by God, not reluctantly.

So the prayer is that God would take our hearts today. Capture us today. Awaken us to that fact that He loves us and cares for us. There’s nothing we have that He doesn’t already have a million times over more than we have. There’s nothing we have that didn’t come from Him first.

All Glory to the Giver of all!
